Dr Christoforetti recently accepted a leadership position with Texas Health Resources in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. After 12 years of commitment to the Pittsburgh region, he is in the process of relocating his practice to Frisco, Texas.
He will lead efforts there that strive to impact the international community of orthopaedic sports medicine in education, research and clinical care. More information will follow through this site currently under construction. His relationship and research efforts at Allegheny Health Network remains strong through this transition.
He is no longer accepting patients for care in Pittsburgh and recommends use of 412-DOCTORS phone line to access Allegheny Sports Medicine for new and established patients in need of formal care.
Established patients MAY STILL VISIT with Dr Christoforetti at West Penn Hospital office until the end of December, and should use their usual routes of contact to schedule needed visits.

Dr Christoforetti is licensed to practice medicine by the medical board of Pennsylvania and is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and also Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is an Associate Professor for the Drexel University College of Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He serves as fellowship director for the hip arthroscopy division of Allegheny Orthopaedic Associates and faculty member for the orthopaedic residency and sports medicine fellowship programs at Allegheny Health Network.
His practice in the Pittsburgh area began in 2007. He served as Head team physician for the Washington Wild Things (2007), Peters Township School District (2008-2012), and co-team physician for Seneca Valley (’08-’12), North Allegheny (’07-’12) and Moon Township (‘07-’09) School districts.
He is currently an active consultant for trainers and players from Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, PGA, and division I athletics. He serves as consultant for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and the high schools of the Allegheny Health Network Sports Medicine program.
His research interests in the area of rotator cuff disease and athletic hip injury have been presented at the national and international level and can be found in detail here.
Dr Christoforetti is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a master instructor of hip arthroscopy at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago, Illinois and a faculty member for the American Hip Institute also based in Chicago. He reviews original research for publication in the areas of arthroscopic surgery of the hip and surgery of the shoulder for all major journals.
Dr Christoforetti serves as a paid consultant for Arthrex, Inc. and Breg, Inc. These orthopaedic device manufacturers call upon his skills to invent and evaluate new products as well as instruct other surgeons from around the world on their safe usage. He is fully in support of the Sunshine Act provision of the ACA. Neither he nor his family receives any direct or indirect financial payments from industry for products or services administered to his own patients.
